Plans for a new studio

I have been painting at my studio in Boulder, Colorado for over 10 years. During this coming year I will be moving my studio to Salida, Colorado.

Salida is 3 hours southwest of Boulder, in a beautiful valley surrounded by snowcapped mountains. It is famous for it’s small town charm, vibrant artist community, river sports, hiking and skiing.

We have bought a 3000 square foot building just outside of the city in Smelter Town. The front half of the building was built in the early 1900s as a Slovakian club house, and has a hard wood dance floor. In the 50s the other half was built. We have gutted the building except for the dance floor. By next Spring we will have a tango dance studio, art studio and gallery in the front and a home in the back. We have named this dream-come-true ‘Casa Tango’.

Our spacious studio has 12 foot ceilings, and will be wonderful for my painting and gallery space. It will also welcome the beginnings of a tango community in the Salida area. We will start beginners’ tango classes next year. We foresee tango weekends when we bring in some of the wonderful international tango teachers, and host milongas for our tango friends from all over the world.

I hope that you will visit us there next year. If you wish to be on our mailing list to keep up with the progress. Please email me at dvora@tangoartist.com.

It becomes a part of me!

I sit watching others dance. I draw without looking at my pen and paper. My hand traces the dancers as they glide and turn in the passionate path of tango. TANGO CALLIGRAPHY is born.

This becomes my vocabulary for painting tango.
